Reviews and Ratings
The hotel offers great value for money with tidy rooms that are standard but a bit tired. The service is professional and friendly despite battling poor facilities. The location is excellent overall, perfect for our needs despite some noise disturbances. The dining experience had its moments, but some delays were noted. Overall, a solid choice for a stay in Braintree.
The hotel has a quirky and olde worlde charm but needs maintenance. The rooms were somewhat scruffy, and being close to the generator was a downside. The service was friendly overall, but the main manager was rude. The location was excellent, though initial expectations were low. Dining was hit or miss, with some good meals but generally disappointing. Facilities were adequate but could use improvement.
I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. The room I had was number 6 in the main part of the old pub, right in the middle of the main building on the 1st floor overlooking the main high street. Despite the room being dated and poor, the service provided by Colin, who is a perfect gentleman, stood out as he kept the tables pristine and took pride in his job. The hotel's location was ideal for the nearby wedding event, but the dining experience left much to be desired in terms of portion sizes and quality for the price. Overall, a mix of positives and negatives during my stay.
The hotel had functional, quiet, and spacious rooms, but I was surprised that the bathroom had no soap. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to help us when our cab canceled last minute. The location was good for our visit, right in the center of town with free parking. The dining experience was first class, with tasty food despite a bit of a wait. Overall, a mixed experience with some great aspects and a few drawbacks.
